Clerks perform clerical functions in a variety of areas in support of patient care. These functions vary from department to department and generally include reception, communications, data entry, data collection, chart assembly and disassembly, document management, correspondence, filing, supply ordering, registration of patients, and patient bookings. Clerks function as members of a departmental team and work collaboratively within the team to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma
  • Medical Terminology course
  • Minimum of three (3) months of experience within a hospital or clerical setting 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health disciplines
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience about the functioning of a nursing unit
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Power Point
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Data Entry and maintain Data Bases
  • Experience working in an out-patient program would be an asset
  • Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
  • Bilingualism preferred (French/English)
