The Concurrent Specialist will, under the general direction of the Site Supervisor and drawing on his/her expertise in addictions management and mental health provide counseling, advocacy and support services to clients and families of the Community Mental Health Program, Assertive Community Treatment Team. The Concurrent Specialist functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides services to clients living with serious mental illness enabling them to maintain a level of optimal functioning and independence in their community.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two (2) year Diploma in Mental Health and Addictions 
  • Certification with the International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor Association 
  • Three (3) years of recent experience as a mental health and addictions counselor 
  • Previous experience in a team environment 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills 
  • Demonstrated computer software application skills including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point 
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License 
  • Access to a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000.00 liability insurance 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Act 
  • Knowledge of community resources, agencies and supports 
  • Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
  • Bilingualism preferred (French/English)
